America: 29th May 2017

Today we went for a huge walk to an estuary called Upper Newport Bay Nature Reserve. The walk itself was very long (6km) just to get to the place, however the enjoyment of the walk actually started much earlier when we reached the cycle path stretch along the creek.
We saw an unusual bird called a Black Skimmer which looked weird. A cross between a Cormorant, a Pelican and a Seagull.
The Nature Reserve matched the sunny weather, barren and dry, with there being no way to walk among the river beds out in the estuary, which was sad. Also we were in the flight path of planes taking off overhead from John Wayne Airport. So seeing those up close was pretty cool. We saw hairy caterpillars and big looking snails on the cacti. Sabine had issues taking close up shots using her camera, but my smartphone worked out.
Once back in the University town We bought milk from Albertons, then came home. My poor back and feetys :(
Sabine was eager to go to the park soon after so we did that. She spotted a new unusual duck like bird we haven't spotted before.
Tonight we tried the turkey mince for dinner. Not bad really. We mixed it with the usual veg.

Oh, one more thing I've been wanting to say for a while now: the sound on fire trucks / police cars is EXACTLY like the toy ones. Like, exactly. Its like hearing a bunch of toys in the distance.
